KixFM Chart – Blacktop Junkie hits #5 |
|
There has been a great response on the KixFM chart, which is
broadcast across Richie’s home state where he cut his teeth playing the
demanding country pub circuit. A strong showing in the countdown, with Blacktop Junkie charting at a high of #5
before Christmas, making it the highest Australian act on the chart for that week.

Since arriving in Nashville Richie has been coming to terms
with the seasonal conditions in Nashville.
Whilst we Australians have been sweating it out here over a long, hot, drought-ravaged,
summer, Richie woke one morning to six inches of fresh snow covering his house!
Richie is working on a couple of projects with some players there in Nashville, and we will
let you know the news as it comes to hand.

Blacktop Junkie Film Clip |
|
Well I’m pleased to say the
video clip for “Blacktop Junkie” is finished and is currently
playing on CMC. We had a lot of fun filming, and I’m really happy with the
final result. A big thanks you to all the folks who helped out over the two
days, there are too many to name – but you all know who you are. Be sure to log
onto the CMC website (http://www.countrymusicchannel.com.au/CMC/Requests.aspx)
to request it and keep your eyes peeled for the clip.
The first single from the
album “Blacktop Junkie” has also been released to radio this
month, with some good feedback already. KLFM
- central Victoria, 2MCR - Campbelltown NSW, and WYNN FM –
Melbourne, are some of the stations already giving it regular airplay, which is
great to see. You can make a request at your nearest Country station.
The album “The
Blacktop Junkie’s Guide To Richie Scholl” is finally finished and is
being dispatched to shops, so go and get yourself a copy. It will also soon be
available via the website, so “watch this space”.
The big move to Nashville is
coming up at the end of this month, so there are a lot of things to finalize in
the next few weeks, and a lot of packing to do, but I’ll be sure to keep you
posted on the latest developments. Any
feedback or comments please send them to

Its been a while since the Grand Finale New Years Eve show at Rockhampton with the old band Zekes Wheel, but that doesn't mean I haven't been busy now I'm out on my own- it's been quite a year so far!
January I went to Tamworth, and hooked up with well known producer Michael Flanders. I played him a few of my new tunes, and to cut a long story short, we cut an album the following month at his studio in Brisbane. We had the album recorded in about 12 days, and I am
very happy with how it has turned out.
So pleased we were with the album result, we travelled to the U.S to get some thoughts from a few folks in Nashville about it. Nashville is a mind blowing place, and I had an absolute blast.
There is so much musical heritage there. Every where you turn there's a connection to someone or something of musical greatness. With prospect of a management and an indy label deal, I look set to move over by the end of the
year.
Whilst stateside, I wrote quite a lot of songs. One of the artists I wrote with was Melody Dunn for her next album which should be recorded in the last quarter of this year. Melody is a great singer who hails from Arizona and toured Australia early this year, so keep an eye out for her on
CMC. Click here to check her out. www.melodydunn.com
Speaking of CMC, we shoot the first video in the next few weeks in support of the album release. All things going to plan, it should be out some time in September.
The new website is now up and running so, be sure to keep checking it out as we are always adding news and stuff to the site.
Look forward to hearing from you - drop me a line at the website some time.
